The news has gotten better for whoever purchased a winning Mega Millions ticket from the Farmville Food Lion sometime last week.
The Virginia Lottery now says the ticket is worth $99 million dollars, up from the estimated $95 million announced Saturday.
According to an e-mail from the Virginia Lottery, “National sales figures for Friday’s Mega Millions drawing have now been totaled, and the result is more good news for someone who bought a ticket in Farmville, Virginia. The jackpot amount actually came to $198 million, not the $190 million estimated before the drawing. That means each of the two jackpot-winning tickets is worth $99 million. Those two tickets, which were bought in Virginia and New Jersey, will split the estimated $198 million jackpot ($99 million each).”
The Farmville winner will split the now $198 million winning ticket with someone in New Jersey.
Hagerty says as of yesterday, no one has claimed the ticket.
As soon as we hear who the winner is, we’ll let you know.
