There’s a lot of excitement in Farmville today as everyone’s wondering who bought the $95 million Mega Million Ticket at the Food Lion on South Main Street.

Lottery officials say the winning numbers were 11-15-35-43-49 and the Mega Ball number 41.

The Virginia Lottery’s John Hagerty says there’s no way to know who the winner is until that person walks into the doors of the Lottery Office with the winning ticket.

There were two winning tickets sold, one in Farmville and the other in New Jersey.

The winner has 180 days from the drawing to claim the prize. That person or persons will have a choice: Either take the full $95 million in 30 annual payments or a one-time cash option of approximately $70.3 million before taxes.

This is Virginia’s 8^th Mega Millions jackpot win.

The jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket was bought at Food Lion, 1592 South Main Street, Farmville. The ticket is worth an estimated $95 million.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) – A former U.S. Postal Service official has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for accepting at least $40,000 in bribes to help a Maryland company receive $6 million in contracts. Forty-eight-year-old Gene Quarles of Spotsylvania pleaded guilty earlier this year in federal court in Alexandria to bribery of a public official. Prosecutors had sought a two-year sentence.

UNDATED (AP) – Andy Pettitte has become the 13th player to land on the New York Yankees’ disabled list, one day after straining an upper back muscle during a 3-2 loss to Seattle. Vidal Nuno (NOON’-yoh) is being recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to replace Pettitte in the rotation. Nuno beat the Indians in his first major league start on Monday.

UNDATED (AP) – Former U.S. Open champion Ken Venturi has died at age 82 just 12 days after he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame. Venturi had been hospitalized the last two months for a spinal infection, pneumonia and an intestinal infection. He won the 1964 U.S. Open at Congressional despite playing with severe dehydration, and overcame a childhood stuttering problem to spend 35 years in the broadcast booth with CBS Sports.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) – New York Jets running back Mike Goodson is facing drug and weapons charges following a traffic stop in New Jersey. A police spokesman says both Goodson and the man driving were charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and three weapons charges stemming from a handgun found in the vehicle.
