A spokeswoman from Southern Dominion Health Systems says that scams involving the new Affordable Care Act changes. Southern Dominion provides services in Lunenburg,Amelia and other counties in Virginia. Corrie Robbins says citizens are being contacted by scam artists who pretend to represent the government health system and try to get personal financial information. Authorities remind everyone that they should never give credit card numbers, social security numbers or other personal information to people who contact them. Some scammers contact people claiming to be so-called “navigators” who help people figure out how to sign up for health care exchanges. The exchanges do employ navigators, but they do not call citizens unsolicited.
