There’s plenty of water in Buckingham County. Mike Markley, the County’s utilities director, told The Herald that not only is a new state-of-the-art water treatment facility opening soon, expected to ensure higher water quality standards, but the new plant will also nearly triple the water capacity, as compared to the existing facility. The current water plant has a capacity of about 500,000 to 510,000 gallons per day, while the new facility will be able to create about 1.1 million gallons in just 16 hours. The water treatment facility is scheduled to open soon, and will serve customers in both Buckingham and Dillwyn.
