Winter weather posed a problem for Appomattox County School officials. Monday morning, ice and rain coated the roadways in the region and school officials had to determine whether or not to delay classes or close schools altogether. Appomattox County Public Schools Transportation Supervisor Matt Lair explained it’s a decision they don’t take lightly, as he has to consult with the sheriff’s department, VDOT, and other transportation departments. Lair says the safety of students and staff is their main concern.
