HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA-#16 Hampden-Sydney (23-4, 14-2 ODAC) and Cabrini (22-5, 14-1 CSAC) will clash at S. Douglas Fleet Gymnasium in the first round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Tournament. Saturday’s game marks the 14th NCAA Tournament game in Fleet and 14th overall appearance for the Hampden-Sydney Tigers. The Cavaliers are also familiar with the post season, as 2013 marks the 11th overall and fourth consecutive postseason appearance.

The Tigers are in the dance via a Pool C bid based on a 23-4 overall record. The last time Hampden-Sydney was in the postseason was 2007 after the Tigers’ tenth ODAC Championship. The team defeated Hood in the first round before falling to eventual national runner up Virginia Wesleyan. In Fleet Gymnasium, the Tigers stand at 11-3 overall with its first home tournament game coming in 1992.

Cabrini won its fourth straight Colonial States Athletic Conference title to reach the Tournament. The Cavaliers’ last tournament appearance was last season when they reached the title game before falling to national champion University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Tickets are still available for the 7:00 pm tip-off. General admission is $6 and students and senior citizen tickets are $3. They will be sold in the Kirk Athletic Center office tomorrow from 9-1 and 2-6. You can also call 434-223-6151. Tickets can also be purchased at the door.
