The Farmville Town Council voted this morning to deed the Field of Dreams property on West Third Street to the Prince Edward Farmville Youth Association.

The action followed closed session during a special called meeting.

The ball fields and other properties consist of about 14  acres.

Town Manager Gerry Spates says the move will give the group control of the property.

Spates goes on to say that PEFYA would be responsible for further improvements to the property, which have been discussed by town officials.

Council member Jamie Davis cast the lone vote of opposition, saying that he had not had time to review all of the documentation associated with the move.
