Sequestration and falling off of the fiscal cliff are on the minds of Virginia lawmakers in Washington because of the impact it could have on the state’s economy.
Republican Congressman Robert Hurt was on the Call Flo Radio Show this week taking about the fiscal crisis, and why he voted against legislation that would have avoided the fall off of the cliff. Hurt says the legislation would have just pushed back the date of the sequester rather than eliminating it.
The budget stalemate is expected to cause defense, contractor, and other government layoffs. Hurt says as the debt continues to grow in the nation, leadership is needed from the President and the Senate.
