Update:  Virginia State Police are now saying that the victim was 18 year old.

An 19 year old Pamplin woman is dead following a single vehicle accident in Appomattox County.

Virginia State Police say the accident occurred over the weekend in the 1700 block of Wheeler Spring Road in Appomattox.

The victim, Melissa Ann Smith, 19, of Pamplin, died at the scene of the crash.  She was the only person in the vehicle.

Smith was a student at Lynchburg College.

Police said her vehicle ran off of the right side of the road way, over corrected, and struck an embankment.
